On this page we will cover the basic essentials of flight: thrust, lift and drag
Thrust comes from the engines and is used to propel the aircraft forward. In turbine engines different sections of the engine work to generate the thrust it takes to move the aircraft forward.
Lets air into the engine.
As the air flows through different stages of the compression section it gets more and more compressed.
Mixes the air with fuel, sending it through the turbine and out of the exhaust, creating the thrust needed to move the aircraft forward.
Lift is generated from the airflow traveling across the wings
When a flight surface moves out of its stowed position the drag created across the surface allows for control of the aircraft in the air. Feel free to check out Flight Controls - By Wire for more.
